Please help me overclock my Radeon x850 xt

I would suggest downloading ati tool, great program for finding your max core and mem speeds. It is easy to use!

Hi mate, very easy just load it up and click on find max core and it will heat up and scan for artifacts and once it finds an error use that setting minus 10mhz, just to be well within its limit. Do the same for find max memory, it does take a while so be patient. Bear i mind that above 80c is not recommended so watch your temps. Hope this helps :D

There ya go.

Nice advice wiggy. ;)

Thanks mate, not that he will get too much more performance increase due to its limitations, but as they say 'every little helps'!

Saw a TomsHardware review and they clocked their X850XT and got an extra 700 points in 3DMark05. Fair enough that was a select sample, but you never you. Yours could reach that.

You might find that when you use Find Max Core that your system locks up, if it does this reboot and reload ATItool. It'll tell you the clock rate that it was at when it locked. Back off this a bit (10MHz as wiggy says would be good) and leave it just scanning for artifacts. If nothing happens then that's probably a stable overclock, if it locks repeat.

Np just pleased to help. So what extra were you able to get from it? I can run mine at 520 core and 540 mem.
I forgot about lock ups, well said Jokester :D

My personal opinion is that the find max clocks feature of tray tools doesn't amount to much. If you're going to try overclocking you might as well try your own clocks and bench them in games. That said the artifact testing feature is a winner in most circumstances.

I always found the best way to test a clock was to stress test in cs. If it runs through that without glitching / crashing its almost a guranteed winner.

If you really want to see huge improvements you'll have to look into volt modding.

X850xt's can sometimes easily get near 600 core and 620+ mem.

Isnt 520/540 stock? i might be remembering wrong but that rings a bell..
