So I have been browsing the forums for a while and these threads seem to be quite common now.

Please can I ask some kind people to have a gander at my CV and give me a bit of feedback as this doesn't seem to be doing much good on the job front. :(

I have a few concerns about it.

  1. I have a gap in my employment due to the caring responsibilities I had for my daughter, do I put this on my CV?
  2. Qualifications, I haven't been to Uni and didn't do too well in my GCSE's in school so I am trying to focus on experience.
Below are screenshots of said CV:

Thank you for taking a look and for any feedback given :)

Does it matter what we say ? you've got an interview buddy well done :D

The only thing i would say is, make your mobile number/address available on the C.V. itself.

UNLESS the "available on request" thing was for display purposes only, then ignore my comment ;)

What size font is that?

Name is 48 (in this example its a smaller font)
Main titles are 16
Main body of text is 12

I have just received the call today and didn't get anything up until today, I was at my wits end last night thinking that nobody will get back to me. Although I am chuffed, it is only 1 interview out of a lot of jobs that I have applied for so I would still really appreciate feedback.

This CV is actually a newly formatted and tweaked version.

The available on request thing is for monster.com as it is a public CV.

Thank you guys :)

I would shrink that a little and see if you can fit it on one page.

It looks nice and clean and is to the point. I like it :)

As a pedant, the only thing I might change is:

"Currently looking for an ICT role to continue to develop and demonstrate the ICT skills and experiences that have been achieved."

You don't get a job to demonstrate your skills. You demonstrate your skills to get a job. Maybe it should just be changed to something along the lines of 'further develop existing skills as well as taking on new challenges/responsibilities'?

I should really update my own CV ;/

Maybe replace 2yrs and 8 mths with almost 3 yrs. Also rephrase how you describe things, ie "answering telephone" to "dealing with telephone enquiries" etc.

Thanks for all your advice guys, I'll do a bit of tweaking to incorporate the points mentioned. The love of playing pool bit is cheesy but I've been playing 20 years.

The almost 3 years point is a tricky one, it could be assumed that means 2 years and 10 month onwards.

When writing CVS I would definitely say update it as you work, when you get an achievement add it in as they are quite hard to remember.

Thanks again for your advice guys
