please spec me the best card for £300.

+ the load of people just in this forum who ditched their 7*** cards due to 'driver issues'.

Don't know what they are, nor am I that interested, but there's more issues lurking than just the low power state.

The point is you can go wrong by buying either brands cards. To suggest otherwise is a little short-sighted.

The 670 performs better than the 7970 out the box in most games, however, the 7970 will overclock a fair old way. The 670 will also overclock but will be slightly under 7970 performance when both are maxed.

The 7950, unless you get a superb clocker, is below performance levels of the 670. I wouldn't recommend it over the 670.

AMD problems currently are related to when the cards are in a low power state, i.e when not being used, Nvidia problems are related to stuttering in games, i.e when the card is being used to it's full extent - Hardly comparable imo.

Do i really have to trawl the internet looking for AMD driver issues(Not that I am going to). My point been there are issues with both.

I have a 680 and do not get the stuttering so I can not comment on it really, But yeah it would annoy me if I did. But I would take a bit of heart from Nvidia seeing the problem and trying to do something about it.

From reading around it seems AMD do very little to let people know the issues and what they are doing to rectify.

I shall leave it here now as I do not really wsant to get in to a *** for tat and derailing OP's thread.

Zero core/sleep if your setup was to suffer it(as not everybody is affected by it and is more of an issue when using CrossFire at the moment as the second card doesn't switch off when not in use), doesn't affect games like the stuttering problem(again if it indeed affects you) probably will get sorted out through time.

They are all good cards when working as they should, if you don't oc then Nvidia is the way to go, however when they are all oc'ed theres not much between them at all, so get the one that suits you in the games you play.

So far in this thread:

1. I highlighted that Nvidia have acknowledged the fault.

2. In reference to the 'oh they will fix it unlike AMD fixing anything', I replied with the 560 TDR fault which you had but luckily sorted for yourself.

3. I stated zero core doesn't work.

4. 7 series CrossFire isn't looking so good

I must apologise however and will desist from informing users of the non problem now and turn on ostrich mode.
