Right, we're having a slight difference of opinion over the meaning of some instructions in a letter i've had from the hospital about my operation and not eating beforehand.

The letter says -

Do not eat anything after midnight the day before your operation.

Between midnight and 6am on the day of your operation you may frink clear fluids only.

I'm being admitted at 7am on Monday, by my understanding that means nothing to eat on Sunday (midnight of the day before the op) and clear fluids only on Monday morning, but ...

She thinks that it means no food on moday morning and clear fluids until 6am.

I know i'm right, but she can't see it.....

You can eat up until midnight on Sunday is my take on that.

Sunday 12am -> Operation = No food.
Monday 12am -> Operation = Clear fluids only.

Is the way I read it

Eat what you like sunday, however no food after midnight or you will start producing Gremlins. Had the same instructions before both ops on my elbow.

Midnight on Sunday is 1 minute before 00:01 on Sunday. You are correct.

Do as someone above me suggested. Just humour the wife whilst taking no notice of what she says. They will never admit to being wrong.

11pm sunday - you can still eat

Midnight - stop eating as all you can do is consume liquids until 6am.

From 6am onwards its nothing.

Yep, they've just worded it badly

Food in the stomach before an anaesthetic can cause reflex vomiting, which obviously you don't want when you're unconscious with a tube in your oesophagus. 11.59pm on Sunday, you can eat. 12am midnight on MONDAY (they said Sunday because they're thick), stop eating. No WAY do you need to starve for 24 hours for any kind of op - trust me I've been there dozens of times lol

You can not eat after midnight sunday, between midnight sunday and 6am monday you may drink clear fluids only, then after 6am monday you can not have anything!
