Hey all

So my PS4 is currently downstairs plugged into a big 42" TV which is a pretty sweet set up for me, but because it's the shared TV in the living room this means that the majority of the time I don't get to play on it, and with Watch Dogs released I definitely gotta sort this out!

So upstairs I have my PC plugged into a BENQ monitor via a DVI cable and the monitor has 1 Spare VGA input, so I was wondering if anybody could point me in the direction of some cables that can be used in order to convert the HDMI into VGA and also I'd need some kind of cable that goes from the back of the PS4 into my current speakers I have up here, they're 3.1 Logitech ones I think.

Just not too sure on how to do the audio really because I know the PS4 has a digital Audio Out, any help would be appreciated!

What's the difference between a ps4 being VGA over DVI then?

DVI is identical to HDMI, except with a different connector and no sound. The PS4 supports HDMI natively, so you just need a cheap-as-chips connector to get perfect 1080p on your monitor.

VGA is a totally different interface. PS4 doesn't support it. HDMI to VGA converters exist, but they're expensive, need to be plugged in, will make image quality far worse and introduce lag. You really don't want to try it when DVI is an option.

I've found and purchased a cheap hdmi to vgi converter that has an audio jack and doesn't require and external power source, I'm gonna try it out and see since it was only £7.99 so I can always return it if it proves to be laggy! Will let you all know.

Alright update on the situation, the converter came today and it doesn't even work, I'm gonna scrap the VGA idea based on this and what you guys were saying and get a HDMI to DVI cable, but this leaves the problem of Audio.

Does anybody know any Audio solutions for the playstation 4? I know it accepts digital audio out but my speakers only accept 3.5mm audio jacks!

Thanks for the help too guys!

You could plug headphones into the ps4 controller or get the wireless ones sony do.
I think some usb speakers also work with the ps4.
