April Jones: Hundreds attend Machynlleth funeral

I don't mean in any way to belittle the suffering of April's family and the community around them but this strikes me as a little peculiar. I can understand holding a memorial service to commemorate April's life but I don't quite understand the full horse-drawn hearse with coffin thing bearing in mind her remains are yet to be found. I can only presume that, psychologically, it is something positive for the family but, for instance, what will happen if her remains are eventually located? Will they exhume an empty coffin and hold another funeral?
