A lot of talk on the forum about this recently, just wanted to gauge public opinion.

Mods if we could have a poll with the following options please:
- Yes it's great I love it
- Don't know yet still in my 'training period'
- It's ok, my speeds are a bit up and down
- No I hate it, why did I upgrade!
- I still haven't taken the plunge

Cheers,

A month after regrading and it still hasn't decided on a speed to stay sync'd at - as my SNR drops the DSL drops, resyncs at a lower speed. Repeat that cycle all evening. Wake up the next morning to find that it is syncing at the same speed it was the previous morning. That evening it'll drop, resync, drop resync... The following morning it is back up at the speed it was the previous morning, that evening it'll drop and resync....

I definately wish I'd never gone onto it. I had a solid 2Mbit connection before, now I have a nice fast (6.5Mbit or so) connection in the morning and afternoon but a totally unusable connection in the evening.

Yeh I've heard reports of that. Because of all the contention issues and stuff SNR values seem to drop loads for me in the evenings. Have checked my router stats before and seen an SNR of 1db!

Which ISP is that dude and what are your line stats?

I've heard that telephone usage can have a detrimental effect during the training period. Is it worth me diverting my calls to my other phone line?

Previous: 2mbps
Now: 5800-6100kbps

When I first went on MaxDSL I was syncing between 4000 and 4400, syncing once at 4800kbps for a very short while. I've just put the router downstairs and disconnected our extension cable (~10m) and it looks like I've gained about 1.5mbps

Only other problem I've really had with MaxDSL are drop outs in the evening in the middle of BF2, though hopefully running the router downstairs will help towards that, will have to wait and see on that one.

Are you playing BF2 using a wireless connection?

No, RJ45 cable to the router through 2x 5 port switches.

Before MaxDSL it was perfect, I dont think I ever had a disconnect @ 2meg but now on MaxDSL my SNR seems to drop a little in the evening enough to make it disconnect 2 or 3 times between about 10:30pm and midnight.

Yes, I believe that is what happens.

You believe wrong then.

Unless your filters are dodgy, using your phone won't make an ounce of odds, and crosstalk between ADSL and the voice service doesn't exist.

Maxdsl has bumped my pathetic 1 meg to 3 meg, and tbh, its enough for my needs.. well till next week :D Im on the 6th day, and all seems ok, after the B RAS was finally set correctly.

Very up and down 10 days in, reading between the lines i have to wait longer really before i judge properly. The only thing i will say is that last week it was almost unusable, today i don't notice that theres a problem but if i look at the drayec stats its still showing plenty of crc errors...
