What level of earnings is this new 'means testing' for the likes of pension winter fuel payments etc?
Is it per individual or per household?
Will they expect the taxpayer to inform them if the taxpayer earns too much, in the same way as the **** brained ****wits do with child benefit?
Still annoyed about that lack of joint income determination, given it is obviously a joint income basis in the majority of cases.

I just lol at the idea that "vote Tory, get your assets stripped", but nah Corbyn is the 'real' marxist here.

Kindly explain what you feel is wrong with Marxism.

The Star Trek federation, as one example, is an ideolised version of it... if you've seen the show/movies/etc and get the idea behind how humanity exists in that version of the future... what is so wrong with it?

Some people will only see the word communism and react badly to it... but I truly believe real communism would be a great thing for everyone. Russia and China claimed / were claimed to be communist... they were/are not.

The closest we have been / are to true communism are ancient tribes, native americans etc... so I struggle to think why anyone thinks that is bad unless they have become victim of the many decade brainwashing to the idea that the word communism is bad when it has been used to relate non-communist ideals to bad things.

The problem is it only works when it is by consent, which is why small communes work. Every attempt at large scale communism has ended in a human rights disaster, because it goes from the good of the community by consent to the good of the community by force, as a means of allocating finite resources.

Star trek works because resources are essentially not finite in that system.

A fair point... I'll think about that

wow reading this thread makes me depressed, so many Tory gonks on these forums, good luck you have cut your own throats.

Harry Callahan: Briggs, I hate the goddamn system! But until someone comes along with changes that make sense, I'll stick with it.

They havent said what the threshold will be. That will be a green paper after the election so it could be low or it could be high.

As for how it works it's nobody gets it at all unless you apply and fill out the means test forms. A lot of informed pEpole say this will put people off applying who would actually qualify to get it and need it

I can't vouch for its truthfulness but an interesting read from FB. Obviously take with a pinch of salt but I'm not surprised if there was truth in it.

With all the new information since this thread started and the release of the manifestos, have any of you changed your minds?

Lib Dem to Labour. TBH mine will be a wasted vote as there is not a cat in hells chance where I am of anything but the Cons getting it. I would rather cut my todger off with a blunt knife than vote Tory this time round.

Lib Dem to Labour. As much as I'd like to protest against the Labour leadership's timid defence of the EU, I don't think I could live with myself if I voted Lib Dem and my wonderful Labour MP (with a slim majority) was ousted by the Tories.

I need a local MP who'll campaign against issues like the impending cuts to our local schools.

Pretty much same here I think :( even UKIP has been making more ground here than Labour over the last 2-3 elections, Lib Dems were strong but last election completely collapsed and have been a shambles since and despite the local Tory MP being useless and shown himself to be quite obnoxious (he'll probably try and track me down and sue me for posting bad things about him and I'm not even kidding) I can't see him not being voted back in :(
