I really don't understand this position on voting. I bet there is a sizable proportion of eligible voters in your constituency that didn't vote and that if they all voted for the opposition, they would win.
I live in Theresa May's constituency and she's projected to get 71% of the vote here. I will still be voting against her though. By not voting I would be in effect voting for her by my inaction.

Well there are 2 parties I would vote for. The one I like has less than 1% of the vote the other 81%. There is no way the party with less than 1% is going to win so I may as well let my second option win.

I don't like SNP's stance on independance but I don't think they will ever get it out of their heads it's not good for scotland. Their other stances seem to be pretty good though.

I am dismayed by it though, this is a party that is destroying the NHS, dismantling the tax credits system; that's before looking at that vile rape clause, making further education for adults more and more difficult every year. This is a party that has slashed taxes for the rich but taken more and more from those of us who have the least and in doing so have trippled the national debt. It's the Tories who introduced disgusting zero hour contracts, distorted the national living wage and plan on obliterating workers rights once we have left the European Union. Do you people honestly believe that children who can't afford grammar schools or don't sufficiently meet the criteria are prevented from having the same opportunities as everyone else? Do all of you want to have to pay a fee to go and see your GP? What happens when like myself your on a low income and are really ill? What about the pensioners and the pension age continuing to rise?

Since the tories have come into power, I've had to use foodbanks when I wasn't working due to illness, I see more homeless people now on the streets than I ever did as a kid growing up and in real terms affording things has become more and more difficult.

The problem is that you dont get to pick individual policies when you go and vote. For most people this vote seems to be about Brexit mainly followed by a few main policies after that. The rest unfortunately you have to like or lump throughout that parliament and if they are important to you cause you to vote next time. People naturally vote for something that may improve their lives as they see it. Everyone is individual but most of the issues you bring up have been in the works for a couple of decades and each of the parties have had a chance to attempt to fix them - and all each have done is tinker with them as they see fit

It's the Tories who introduced disgusting zero hour contracts.

Now I don't know if there was an "original creator", but what I do know that many successive governments have not changed any rules on this - Labour & Conservative.

In addition to that, remember Zero Hour Contracts do work for a lot of people, that just don't make the press, as it's pretty boring reading.

Views on some other points,

In regards to MP's deflecting questions, they all do it - all parties, a lot of the time...regardless of position. Answering a question with a question / far joining comment to not answer the original question.

Now we all know this forum has always been a heavy Conservative forum, but it would be interested to see the age ranges we have here in terms of some figures I've seen quoting "Labour has X% of the group under 35/40 years old"

On a side note, is anyone else noticing the large amount of anti-Tory stuff on Facebook recently? It's almost like they have decided to target social media.

Really interested to see where funding is coming from for a lot of the Labour ideas. My other half works in the NHS (Nurse), I do believe she deserves a pay rise. That said, do I also think the minimum wage should rise to £10 (I think I saw that quoted) - not so sure. I appreciate the cost of living is hard, but a Nurse vs Minimum wage? Interesting conversation to have there.

I'm amazed that the Tories think they can hoodwink voters into believing that they're the party of calmness and stability. Brexit has been a farce so far.

Yeah but it'll work. Because the alternatives are equally as bad.

They don't 'think' they can, they 'know' they can, and most of us will regret it.

You forget that to get people to change their minds and vote elsewhere you need a credible alternative to vote for....... from the polls there isnt one so unfortunately this is seen as the best option. Its not great but for most people it seems to be the only one out there

to be fair angus robertson or whatever his name is for scotland really killed thatcher 2.0 in pmq's

The conservatives wont be sticking to the triple lock pensions

Can anyone explain how pretty much every post in this thread is an attack on the Tories yet the poll shows them ahead by a country mile?

They are pretty much the only party that has any hope of making Brexit work for the country.

At which point did the Tories become competent. May has flipflopped, u-turned and failed in most things Brexit so far.

That is as may be but is it also worth the potential cost of the other baggage they might bring with them - especially if empowered by a large vote in their favour?

funny how every answer ends with "strong and stable leadership, vote for me"

it's all so funny and sad at the same time, feels like a nursery and a buncha kids fighting about things.

neither of them can guarantee anything and all have hidden ideas which if exposed would ruin their chances.

all of it from my pov is just BS.

So i decided this morning after a convo with a couple of work collegues, its to be Lib Dem. They also made the same choice.

I've voted tory all my life, I just can't stand them at the moment.

I had high hopes for May, I can't stand to see her face now. She literally the worst Tory leader I can think of since Ive followed politics. So as much as my vote won't make a diff as I live in a strong pro tory seat, I need to highlight my disgust and vote elsewhere. I guess i wont be renewing my party membership any time soon ;)

Because a lot of the people who don't want brexit are going to vote for the party that gave them brexit...
