Sould the UK ban the islamic veil as the French did?

1. yes, ban the veil in the UK
2. don't like the veil, but a ban is not the right approach

EDIT: to clarify the ban is not about security. It is about women's place in modern society

EDIT 2: The ban in France concerns the Burkha (full faced veil) not the Chador (scarf on head, face visible)

By islamic veil, do you mean the veil worn by women? If so, no don't ban it. This country has always prided itself on tolerating people of all cultures and communities, so this would be a step in the wrong direction for its ethos.

Who cares? I for one consider it good manners that these women cover their faces so I don't have to view them, I may have nightmares otherwise. Forcing some of the chavs around here to wear a veil would be the right approach so I don't have to look at their hideous forms.

No, there should be no law expressly banning Muslim veils. If you want to ban covering the face, then have a ban from covering the face.
