id go gigabyte purely for their excellent rma/customer services,

Who clicked AsRock!
Please don't.
There's very little to complain about with recent ASRock motherboards.
There were a couple of people with damaged CPU socket pins, assuming this was actually ASRock's fault.
Other manufacturers have had their fair share of issues.
ASRock are currently up there with Asus, Gigabyte and MSI.
Of course, i certainly wouldn't say they were a premium brand though.
Gigabyte>=Asus>MSI>AsRock.

So far I've only seen one which I think can handle at least two PCIe x16 3.0 slots at x16 speed. That would be the Gigabyte G1 Sniper 3, but I hate the look of it.
I was hoping for something better from Asrock, I like what they did with Z68, I thought that showed innovation with how they handled PCIe lanes with the PLX chip. Can't see anything outstanding from them this time round though and wish they hadn't littered all their boards with old PCI slots.
My decision for this major upgrade of mine is going to hinge on whether the motherboard can handle a second GFX card in PCIe 3.0 at x16 speed. That would give some potential for extra lifespan rather than ditching the mobo and cpu when Haswell arrives.
The most singing specification would be the onboard PLX PEX 8747 bridge. With this, ASRock Z77 Extreme9 is able to run dual VGA cards (2-Way SLI / CrossFireX) at PCIe Gen3 x16 / x16 mode or four VGA cards (4-Way SLI / CrossFireX) at PCIe Gen3 x8 / x8 / x8 / x8 mode.
Thanks Surveyor I hadn't noticed the Extreme 9 yet as it's not yet listed on their site. One to watch but I wish they'd drop them old PCI slots in favour of PCIe.
