I've just got my new C2D setup running and i've noticed a massive difference in CPU temperature when removing the side panel of my Lian-Li PC60. With the side panel on the CPU temp is 42c, and with it removed it's down to 31c! Is there anything i can do? Or do i need a new case?

The case is a big pile of poo. I'm using one and have tried everything. I'm going over to water soon so it doesn't bother me too much. Get a bigger case if you're worried about it.

You've got three obvious choices:
1. Buy another case
2. Buy better fans
3. Cut a hole in the side panel for a fan

If your PC60 has 80mm fans like mine do I'd suggest 1 or 3. I've tried 2 and it does help but mainly makes it quieter. I did 3 when for my dual PIII/550 Slot 1 PC to get some air to the rear CPU and now I'm going for 1. If you have a more modern PC60 with 120mm fans then something like the Scythe S-Flex or Noctua fans would be worth trying.

Thanks for the replies. It's one of the earliest PC60's with an 80mm fan at the back and two fans at the front which are obstructed by the hard drive cage. The build quality of this case is excellent, but the air flow through it is very poor. Does anyone have a recommendation for a new case with better air flow? What is the general opinion of the wavemaster?

I have mine modded with a 120mm blow hole at the top and it makes a diference. As does replacing the stock fans with better ones. I had coolermaster LED's which were a good replacement for the ADDA's. there are probably a tonne better nowadays though.
