poorly rocky

why have you not signed on then? how are you paying your rent/ OR DO YOU LIVE WITH SOMEONE THAT WORKS, LIKE YOUR PARENTS OR A SPOUSE? because you cant live on nothing, so we need more details.

Whats with the CAPS mid way through, and whats it got to do with you or any of us on here anyway !

OP is asking for advice what to do in a bad situation, not for the Spanish inquisition on their reason for not signing on, who lives with them and has money etc.

Kayleigh, get him to the vet.

Ask Mick to help maybe, or your dad?

i have taken him now, he had to have a few injections and some meds :(

also about the insurance, i would have to pay it and then claim it back!
it wasnt a case of me not taking him, as westy would know, i would take him even if i had to leg it after, he is my world!
anyway for those who wanna know he is ok, just needs more rest and lotsa meds

its none of your buisness but im actually homeless atm, sofa surfing i believe is the term.
the dog is at my mothers.
not that thats anyones buisness but mine

I can provide some basic details, as I know Kayleigh.

She lives with her mum I believe, who works. I don't know about the circumstances that made her be out of work, but to be honest, its not really any of our business :)

thank you

What kind of **** vets need you to pay up front when you're insured?

Mine take the excess only, and claim the rest direct, whatever that may be.

Glad your dog is going to be OK. Out of interest what kind of dog is he?

he is a tipperary jack russell. :D he is beautiful

My sister's been through a scare with her Jack Russell - she (the Jack Russell) appears to be getting much better now after a vet said she needed a 4K op!

I think the lesson here is to get pet insurance as soon as you possibly can, as it's shocking how expensive care can be... :(

would just like to inform the people who were interested, my doggy is on the mend, after a good 15mins trying to give him tablets (we couldnt put it in food cus he wasnt eating) and a few injections he seems to be back to his happy little mental self, as i found out when i creeped in at 5 this morning and having him jump all over me and wake everyone up :s
he is also eating, barking at the postman and chasing the birds in the garden.
still a little bit off but getting there =D
thank you for all the advice.

Glad to hear he's back to normal :)

This is why I'm a firm believer that if you're going to take on a commitment like a pet, you should have contingency in place, whether it be in the form of savings or an arranged overdraft, or get an insurance policy that is going to suit your needs, instead of getting the first one that comes along because you get a 15% discount, free gift or cashback.

At the end of the day, you're dealing with a life, not a car which you can discard if you can't afford it, so you should make the appropiate plans.

Wow, it's a shame that we all aren't as forward-thinking as you.

That came across as really self-righteous. Who on earth would save up or have an overdraft in place in case of vet bills?

It's an unfortunate thing that's happened, the OP has lost their job and this has just come at the wrong time.

My pet insurance requires us to pay the vet and then claim the money back - if you don't have the money in the first place then you have a problem.

OP, just get your dog to a vet. Spend all day ringing every single vet in the phone book if you have to. I'm sure that all the vets in your area don't refuse to set up a payment plan. I've been to three different vets in my area and every one of them would set up a plan.

Hope your dog is OK :)

Edit: Oops - missed a page. Glad your doggy is doing better :)
