Porsche vs Iphone ?

Somehow I doubt this really. I don't think anyone buys a phone with a view to keeping it for 8 years. It makes no sense.

Especially if it's on contract where they offer you a new one at renewal time anyway. PAYG, I could somewhat understand keeping the phone a bit longer but not 8 years, most phones aren't even designed with that kind of lifespan in mind anyway.

I would say the iphone over the porshe but i tried one of those prada phones a while back and it was quite nice surprisingly. But thats only from the choices you gave, if you want a good phone go HTC!!!

Over 1000 3210's are still registered on the orange network. Don't want to sound all "back in my day" but that is some serious staying power, over a decade.

Those are likely just people in their late 40s who are afraid of change, I know lots of them :p

I tend to buy a new phone every 5, sometimes even 8 years. As a result when I do i can afford to spend a lot more than normall. Which is great!

Given your age, you can't of owned more than 2 phones then.

With all your saved wealth from upgrading rarely you managed to buy a Nokia 6300 last time?

Methinks someone must have hit there head hard whilst doing there israeli special forces martial arts training :p

The thing is though, if all you want to do is make calls then these make total sense as they last much longer than smartphones. Buying a smartphone now while they are relatively new and have big compromises like battery life is a completely different thing. In 8 years time the main plus points of a current technology smartphone will have been obsoleted years previously. You probably won't be able to use the browser, email client or anything very effectively (or maybe even at all) as things will have moved on so much.

Comparing a 3210 to an iPhone is like comparing a calculator to a modern day PC. Both are good at different jobs but the calculator will still be as useful in 8 years time, the PC won't be due to 'online' technology moving on so much.

Considering the OP owns a very average VW Passat (I think?) and thinks its awesome when taking pictures of it in the dark, I can't really take this thread seriously. At all. :p

If you are looking for something flash how about a vertu. My friend has the Porsche phone and he is really not impressed with it.

That is because there is nothing impressive about it, its a terrible phone and a sink for people with money to waste.

The one thing these two devices have in common is they are aimed at posers and people who don't actually like tech.

lol really ? the new iphone has been out for 4? months and still has more 'tech' than any current android phone. admittedly not for long

No it doesn't!

Like what exactly? A Galaxy S is higher specced and offers similar camera performance (720p) to the iPhone 4, for example.

iPhone has slightly higher res screen but it's smaller in size and is not AMOLED.

Why has nobody realised the main flaw of this request? One which will save this august individual even more money.

It is not yet time to upgrade because the Nokia 6300 has only been out 3.5 years! twoblacklines save your money and buy the greatest phone of next year!

the screen is better quality than the galaxys and so is the camera and flash

and to me fitting such specs in a smaller and still well made case is 'tech' . as is the ability to play some very nice looking and playing 3d games

While the iPhone 4's screen is lovely, you cant call it better (factually) than SuperAMOLED, its different. It depends entirely on what you use the phone for.

SAMOLED certainly is better for video and media in general, however the iPhone 4 screen is superior for reading text (especially smaller text) due to the strange pentile matrix on the SAMOLEDs which makes fonts harder to read especially if they are small.

Camera and Flash(LED, not Adobe :p)? Definitely better on the iPhone.
