So... Completed Portal yesterday :o

I have no idea why I didn't play it when I first bought it, but I have to say it was excellent. :D

Although some say it was quite short, I'd say it was about right for what it had to offer. My question is however, is Portal 2 really worth it? Is it just more of the same? Or does it offer something different?

Portal 2 is immense, well worth it, it's like £20 on it's own or buy the valve complete pack which has all the half life's, left for deeds and loads more for £50 which is a good price.

But portal 2 is miles better than the 1st IMO, has a good story line :)

the main difference between portal 1 and portal 2 is this.

portal 1 is more focussed on the puzzles without that much direction

portal 2 is a more guided / charismatic / funnier / full game

I loved Deus Ex but i think P2 would just pip it for me.

Similar opinion here for me, Deus Ex is a great game - but Portal 2 is just so much tighter and polished (and less expansive). I suspect Batman will be my GOTY with strong competition from Uncharted 3.

Skyrim is the one i'm looking forward to the most, but suspect it will be a rough diamond.

I found Portal 2 to be a bit of a grind and had to force myself to play it... still havent finished the thing. Although it was better than the first, to me it felt just more of the same and I was looking for something a bit different.

I never bought Portal 1 or 2 for a long long time, people kept telling me to, but I just never had the desire to. Finally I bought them a few months ago, and Portal 2 is now one of my top 5 games of all time.

Bird, Bird , BIRD! :D

Potato.

The first Portal always struck me as an internal only project, probably used for training. It just ended up being good enough to release - but not to standalone.

Portal 2 is what happens when Valve throw their weight behind it and make a full game. There's more variety, much better graphics, far tighter focus testing and a decent amount of polish to the script.

Great game, if you enjoyed the first one.
