I have 8 gb of of Gskill ripjawsx 1600 mhz installed in an Intel p8p67 motherboard . Sometimes when i switch the pc on it refuses to fire up and the dram led on the motherboard is lit (red) . If i power down for 5 minutes (unpluging the system) and reseat and reset the memory it fires up and all is good.

Any ideas ?

ps. I have a small oc on an i5 2500K 4.4 ghz , but it still does the same with no oc . Also once the pc is on it never crashes this is only from a cold start!

Could may well need the VCCIO tuning or memory controller voltage. I am not familiar what that is called on your board.

Also may need a touch more VDIMM.

Looks more a cold boot problem this than RAM. But indeed Blu sky is correct on RAm testing for this remove your CPU overclock first.
