i've done a few shots on this theme.. being honest though - i dont much like any of them, but that might because i had an idea in my head exactly how i wanted them to look and they don't look like that. anyhoo, opinions on these and which do you think is the best and why and suggestions to improve?

Love the composition of both 2 and 3 mate.

Personally a shallow DOF like in 1 and 4 don't really convey the intricateness of the subject because it's OOF.

You may interpret it differently but that's my opinion.

2+ 3 are cracking though.

thanks for the feedback. the DOF wasn't meant to be that shallow - i had borrowed a nifty fifty for the evening and was still getting used to it (!)

Fair do's mate. I still think you have two shots there that are unconventional but perfect for the intricate theme and are up with the best of the entries so far.

thanks, it was number 2 i was thinking of entering. i like number 3, but am not at all keen on the lighting (LED headtorch..hehe).

Might be able to get back to that site and reshoot number 3 with better lighting.. i'll see what i can do

I rather like number 2 for the composition and relevance. The others don't work for me at all.
