Lightnings do really tame the beast in regards to the 290x, but the 3 slot cooler does leave issues for crossfire, i would love a second, but it would mean new MB and prob CPU. I think most of us would have problems and be putting the second into the x4 slot in crossfire. When the 390x lightning comes out, I will study very carefully the right combinations of hardware.

could always use a riser cable like I did.

Interesting news Boom, but as humbug just said you didn't post a source.

Fud reckons

Currently, AMD's plan is to launch the card in June, but not at Computex. There is a gaming event just days after called E3 in Los Angeles, and we would not be surprised to see AMD making the big announcement there.

So before anyone else says it, and this is a joke so don't go ballistic...But I see the delayed 390x has been pushed back even further :p:D:p

For the last time, it's not delayed. Your "joke" doesn't work.

Looking forward to potentially 24GB next year in 6x 2GB interleaved stacks and the 1TB/s barrier being blown open.

Just about to water Aio cool my two 290/x think am safe in saying a single 390x won't beat crossfire 290s?

If I go with the water cooling I'll be missing the first generation of this 300 series.

If it's faster than crossfire 290's in games with great scaling then sign me up.

You could always sell both cards and one of the AIO's and slap the other AIO on a 390x, it will likely fit.

I like them big ^^^ if you paying £400 for a GPU i kinda want it to be a big fat beast of a Battleship. complete with 16" guns :D

Sorry to bust your bubble but thats unlikely with the HBM Stacks around the GPU.

If you plan on playing GameWorks titles, I would say the 390x would probably be a better bet even if it only offers 80% the performance of crossfire 290x at perfect scaling...as we all know GameWorks and crossfire are like oil and water and they don't mix together...:p

Yup.

I expect these new GPU's will have a significantly bigger heat spreader over the core and HBM modules, making most if not all currant heatsinks/AIO's not viable for them.
