I think at 4k resolution it could realistically be on par with a 295x2, at 1080p probably not.

even at that, it's still better to get a 295x2 or even 2x 290x because of price. a 390x will be £700+ where 2x 290x u can for around £450, 295x2 can be get for around £500-£550

getting 2 390x would mean most people would need to upgrade their case due to lack of radiator space.... and the 390x air cooler version will be hot and loud again i'm guessing

It's hard to say that yet gareth as we don't know the price or performance, what I will say though is a single card solution is better than CF even if it's slightly behind in terms of raw fps.

They won't sell anywhere near that price no matter how good, AMD don't have the nvidia fanfare, if AMD try to sell at £800 the price will soon come crashing down to about £500, which is about the most AMD can sell for in volume, even if its better than the £900 Titan-X.

From the horses mouth

Can't disagree with that but the fanfare bit is irrelevent, to know why AMD are perceived as cheap look no further than the AMD driver thread about an hour ago with an AMD employee recommending a user to download and run third party software to 'fix' a performance issue. With solutions like that is it any wonder people don't want to pay big money for their hardware? If I'd paid £500+ for a GPU and was instructed to use third party software as workarounds for bugs or basic features missing from the drivers (ie. v-sync) I'd be livid.

Agreed, AMDs the cheap brand, no way in hell can they sell it at that price, forums would go into meltdown, AMD would get absolutely slaughtered (remember the slaughtering the 7970 got for its higher price), its only Nvidia who can sell at that price, and higher.

It's a shame when they produce cards like the 295x2 which are built incredibly well yet still don't sell that greatly for the price. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there were more Titan X owners than 295x2 on this forum.

If the drivers were better then maybe that wouldn't be the case!! Damn shame, quality kit let down by **** software

AMD have some work to do. Yes, nvidia are also not perfect. Some of that fanfare would like the world to think nvidia are perfect.

Just like AMD nvidia have had alsorts of problems with drivers and hardware, nvidia have had drivers kill GPU's, twice, they have mislead people about their hardware specifications.

one cant just say its because there is something wrong with AMD, What's really wrong with AMD is their marketing, in that AMD are, well AMD, nvidia are Apple. Nvidia have a much bigger cult following.

NVIDIA enthusiasts are also obviously willing to pay more for performance.

I find it hard to call AMD the bad guys though if for example they price it £100 less than the TX with the same or more performance than the Titan X. It will be illogical for AMD to be flamed for having it cheaper than the TX imo.

The price of the next flagship AMD card relies a lot on the release date and price of the 980Ti too, come to think of it.

The reason for that lower price will be argued by that fanfare will be the same reason iPhone fans argue the massive price of it vs any android phone, they are the creation of a demigod, perfect in every way, all else are cheap imitations.

Unfortunately with the AMD 290x selling at £230 upwards, it wont matter what price AMD introduce the new flagship card at. people will say it is too expensive for an AMD product.

iPhones most expensive? XD Not anymore... take a look at the Galaxy S6 Edge. People say Samsung are going the way of Apple, despite owning an S4, I'd have to agree.

I also agree on the AMD vs Nvidia pricing front, like many people, I'm a bit more comfortable with Nvidia drivers/software than AMD stuff, especially with newer hardware. That and I don't want any new cards to be more than £500 (980 just slips in below that). Price inflation of these cards is terrible for us consumers, I just hope AMD give Nvidia a tough time by pricing the 390x appropriately. Though the use of HBM may boost costs to manufacture (and therefore prices) considering its a new technology.

Why does it have to be ?

That is my suggestion, I'm not suggesting that is the way it is mounted, I was just giving an alternative.

And to anyone commenting on how bad an idea this is, just think about it, all the benefits of an AIO system without the need to find space for a radiator.
Unless you have the fan on the radiator mounted on the back of the case as an intake fan, it is still drawing the warm air from inside the case to the out side. My idea to put the radiator and fan on the end of the card wouldn't be that much different than any of currant custom cooled cards, but probably with better results.

the Radiator needs to be a fresh air intake to work properly, or to a lesser extent an exhaust, but deffo not right inside a stuffy pc case, finally can you imagine the GPU sag with a heavy radiator on the end, plus a fan

no they wont, everyone knows the 290X is cheap now because it's end of line... the 390X will only be too expensive if it's over 650 quid
