I don't think it's that simple. Maybe nvidia are price gouging, but AMD are struggling enough that I doubt they could cut their margins significantly.

Yeah it not that simple. AMD are struggled with CPUs and GPUs margins that are only in single digit between 4% and 7% accorded to AMD on 2015 Financial Analyst Day, AMD lose more money manufactured CPUs, APUs and GPUs and also lose money unable to sell it to OEMs. Server marketshare for AMD CPUs and APUs are just 1.3% while Intel dominated 98.7%, AMD desktop CPUs and APUs marketshare shrank to 11.7% compared to Intel's 88.3%, AMD mobile CPUs and APUs marketshare are 7.7% compared to massive Intel 92.3% marketshare, AMD GPU AIB marketshare will be under 20% now. Accorded to Steam hardware survey April 2015 data excluded APUs, users bought 750,000 new and second hand AMD GPUs compared to 4.1 million new and second hand Nvidia GPUs so that worked out around 17% share for AMD and 83% for Nvidia.

AMD is consider exit PC OEM market after Logitech exited mouse OEM market last month due to fell demands, shrink margins and shrink marketshare then raised retail prices on mouses and keyboards. Nvidia did the same with Tegra exited smartphone market because it cant sell and unprofitable, they now focused it on markets with high margins where it will sell and profitable. If AMD will exit PC OEM market then Intel and Nvidia will have complete domination PC OEM market with low margins CPUs and GPUs that are profitable but AMD will have much smaller CPU and GPU marketshare once it leave OEM market and focus on retail market.

Titan X seems relatively "cool" and quiet from what I have read from all the users on here.

With msi Afterburner custom fan curve, or 60 percent fan I never go over 67 degrees with my titan x. I'm in the camp of wanting thus thing to be a game changer. No remorse here, I love my titan x. I love competition more tho and have a soft spot for both companies. I really want the 390x to be a game changer

Just remember for every one GPU that I buy, Kaap buys 4. Don't believe that he doesn't get excited, he'll be like a kid at Xmas when the 390X launches, and the subsequent follow up from Nvidia :p

problem is people keep buying them! if people boycotted the system they would have to drop their prices!

Herein lies the problem. It's certainly the case with monitor tech right now, people paying through the nose for "premium" IPS monitors plagued with bleed, stuck/dead pixels and glow... and THEN saying, "maybe I'll keep it, it's not THAT bad..." it's madness. I hope the GPU sector doesn't go this way, but ultimately a product's value is determined by what people are willing to pay for it, and at the high-end I get the impression there's somewhat of an Emperor's new clothes situation going on... Nvidia/AMD will say it's the best thing ever, and those people who MUST be on the bleeding edge will just throw money at them to get it, regardless of how insane that price is.

As an example, given its capabilities, I see zero justification on any level for a £900 price point Titan-X. Really, when you properly think about it, that's insane... but people pay it, so why would they make it closer to the actual worth? That would be bad business. We, the consumer, ultimately have the power though... few people seem to realise that. It seems there's a large enough sector of buyers however that simply must have things, at any cost.

I won't be buying any 980Ti's or whatever they are going to be called, they will be too slow 4 up @2160p.:p

You will know when the 390x launches as Kaap will post in every thread subtley reminding us all he owns 4 of them, and 4 TitanX, 4 290x etc etc yada yada ;)

Back in the real world, I'm looking forward to the 390x, would definitely be interested in the VR model as it means I just spend money on a VR headset and not as much on a new monitor.

With the latest AMD CPU news as well a few of us could be running AMD CPU and GPU setups next year

:p:p:p:p

It could be worse I could put all that stuff in my signature.:D

They gave so much stick over at Guru3d about having HD 5970s + X58 in my signature I decided to update it a bit the other day, I am expecting a lot more stick from them now lol.:D

Mate the only reason you don't is because all of your stuff wouldn't fit in your signature :p

Besides we all know already you own 4 of every GPU ever made ! :D

I have thought about collecting GPUs, at the moment I have my eye on a GTX 970.:D

This important message was brought to you by a fat old fart using quadfired 290Xs !!!

Man i hope my 7950 will life until release...it started acting up lately...come on baby just a month now

Sorry to jump in, I don't really get 144hz other than it looks smoother. If you can't hold a solid 144 FPS then what happens? I'm probably being really blonde!

also as well as the other replies on this, as the latency of the frames drops, it makes SLI/CFX more appealing as the jitters will become less perceptible to the human eye as the latency drops. Assuming the spikes are within a decent range.

This combined with DX12 and Freesync/G-Sync should be the beginning of the end to jitter.
