not £15k today but £15k in march next year?

id be looking for a 01 50,000 miles or less, few owners as possible, minter with all the extras

or am i dreaming?

You'll find used M3s by the handful by March next year as sales of the new M3 increase.

I'd expect to get a fairly decent one for £15k by then

I just bought an E46 M3 last friday - 60k on the clock, full service history, nearly flawless paintwork and equally great interior apart from a single scuff on the drivers door where it faces the outside.

15k for a 2001 model in silver.

Personally i think i was very very lucky with this one and the person who sold it to me had owned a string of supercars so knew his stuff, over and above the average 'kevin' who is probably getting more and more interested in these as they drop in price. I know very little about these cars other than at this pricerange its possible to get a great car, but you have to wade through a sea of badly treated and ragged cars before you find a peach.

Absolutely over the moon with my purchase .... coming from a 2.0 twinspark alfa GTV with 155bhp to a 340php straight six monster of an engine its a total buzz every time i get in the car ;)

should find quite a few for 15k, might struggle on the 50k mileage limit though. a 7 year old M3 with minimal miles on it will be commanding a premium.

I'd always suggest with a car like an M3 (or any high performance marque) that you don't really want to stretch your budget - these cars cost a fairly high amount to maintain and run, and getting one from the bottom of the pile (in financial terms) probably isn't wise.

but by not stretching you might be buying a car that actually needs more work doing to it.

My dads just part ex'd his 03 cab with SMG it had 32k on the clock, he only got 19k! I think there are deals out there to be had, just have to be careful when buying one.

When I was in WHSmiths at the airport last week I remember reading a magazine with an article about buying an e46 M3s for 10k. Can't remember what magazine it was now though . It had a full buying guide and stuff in it IIRC.

e46 M3 for that money would be LHD and Cat D, very early and very high mileage.

Yes, i have that issue of Total BMW, and the '343bhp for 10k' really was just a bit of headline attention grabbing stuff, in the article itself they detail that for 10k you're going to an auction and getting a 2000 X-plate, with no sat nav, and 65k+ miles. realistically they're stating 15k as a minimum, and you know, it's never ever a good call to pay minimum for anything...

in related news, the magazine is real pants.

My father sold his 03 M3 about 6 months ago for £19K. It was his from new and perfect, with around 50k on the clock. When I say perfect, I actually mean that too, not just nicely polished, imaculate with hardly a stone chip on the car, which after 50K miles just astonishes me.

There are loads around, you can find a nice one for £15K, but you can also find a number of dogs for £15K.......and more.

So the budget is about €31k?

There are 3 on autotrader now that fit the request @ £16000, so with the obligatory bargaining - I reckon 15k is achievable, and will be much more achievable next year.

I was in Joe Duffy earlier in the week and there was a gorgeous M3 there. I'd love one.

I keep thinking about these as an alternative to something like a 335i next. Miles cheaper, which should offset the higher running costs.

they had his pants down, I was offered more than that recently for my coupe , 03 (52) with 37k

How much does one of those bmw warranty thingies for one of these cost, if you can even get one?

iirc they are not that good outside of the new car warrenty. fox has some knowledge on this iirc!

BMW Extended Warranty went from being the best in the business to the worst. A warranty for a BMW M3 with 60k+ miles will cost £1800 a year, exclude half the car, and have a £250 per claim excess.

No, I'm not joking.
