Possible to get a laptop key to act as a middle mouse button?

As title, I'm missing having a middle mouse button when browsing for opening tabs and cruising up and down pages. Even setting the left mouse button as middle mouse would be great as I usually just tap the touch pad.

Yes I could just use a external mouse, but I don't want to out of convenience.

My toshiba allows you to press both buttons at the same time which acts as a middle mouse button. Try that out.

theres should be a aplication with tools for exactly this: it is bundled with touchpad drivers.

Most Dells are like that too, mine is. Quite handy.

Just tried pressing both mouse buttons. Doesn't act as a middle mouse (testing my clicking tabs in firefox)

I'm using a Dell1210.

Anyone able to suggest anything else?

Tried a couple of times? I didn't notice for a while because it seems quite picky (try one button then the other then release both together if you get me)

Tried it numerous times. All to no avail

Really missing the middle mouse + scrolling wheel when I come from my pc to using the touchpad on my lappy

Must be a piece of software around somewhere that can do this? Surely?
