Possible to have 2 soundcards installed at once?

I've got two soundcards (onboard and M-Audio USB).

Is it possible in Vista/7 to allow certain apps to use certain soundcards, if i have both installed?

It's all a little complicated as to why, but just wondering if anyone know if it were possible?

yes you can have as many as you like lol

I have had 3 audio devices onboard, Xonar STX and a USB dac.

It all worked fine with separate apps (you might want to check that you can select the source in the app though)
