I've finished the single player (which was fun) and have enjoyed the limited multiplayer but fancy moving on now as it doesn't really have too much keep me long term.

Does anyone know if it's possible to trade in/sell the game? I can see a few second hand ones on an auction site, but I thought it was tied to your steam account so once you are finished with it it just makes a nicely coloured paperweight as no-one else could activate it?

You can't sell it unless you made a separate Steam account to sell along with it. Technically according to the Steam EULA you're not allowed to do that either but I dunno how well that'd hold up in court and besides, I doubt anything would come of it.

should have bought the box version if you only planned on playing through the SP.

S.O.L

Yeah I bought the boxed version as my mate said you could transfer Steam licences so didn't think twice about having to use it through steam. Turns out he was wrong :D

I'm sure I could go and trade it in and the trade-in places wouldn't think twice about it, but it would feel wrong knowing I was stitching someone up. Thankfully I didn't pay full price for it or I'd be a sad panda right now! My mate sold his PS3 copy for £30 so it's so annoying the PC gamer can't

As much as I like Steam it really is really killing the second hand market, we should be able to pass the games on from our Steam account.

Why would they want to do that?

As far as publishers care a second hand sale is as good as piracy, it's one less new sale.

No resale = punters have to buy new.

Yes I saw that too. I'm gonna go to one of the stores some time soon and see what they say.

I just went to check this and I can tell you what they'll say; 'Can we see your 2 forms of ID before we let you trade in games with us?'. They operate an account system (or at least did when I last took in some GC games) so if you tried to pull a fast one on them, unless you have fake IDs and stuff, you'll get pulled up on it sooner or later as they'd have your name and address linked to a trade in of MW2.

well that didnt last you long did it :D

Heheh well the single player was over in about 5 hours on "hardened" mode and the multiplayer is fun but not really engrossing enough to keep me there on my own.

I've been waiting for mates to get it as it would be more fun playing with people you know, but they've all gone and bought consoles!! Not one person I know with a PC who used to play COD4/5 with has bought it on PC :(

Some have pirated it for the single player and the rest now have it on PS3. I'm off to get a PS3 this week to join in on that as I've had enough of being restricted with what I do on the PC. I'll keep the PC for PC exclusives but buy the major titles on PS3 from now on.

Then again I've never owned a console so will probably hate it, but at least I can a) Trade in the games easily and b) Play with mates. I've been assured by the ex-PC gamers that it's not actually that bad on PS3...

Rubbish. No you would not get pulled on it, sheesh, trade ins are on second hand games, you are not selling it to them as brand new, it would be their mistake if they bought it.
Didn't Sega and Nintendo offer money for old consoles and games? So, you'd have shops everywhere, at the time of the megadrive etc, that would offer you good trade in prices. A way of keeping the market a float?
Not sure on that one, though I am 100% confident I would not get a comeback, if one of these stores bought my seconhand copy of MW2. You could claim ignorance and they would never try to chase you down for their mistake. If it is a mistake.
