Can somebody explain what is so important about a persons post count ?

Whats the difference between a post count of 100 or 1000 apart from a higher number as i've noticed people typing in threads before it gets locked for the
sole purpose of getting post counts.

well having of a certain count, will get you into MM

and having a high post count i suppose shows that you are here a lot, and contribute a lot etc. etc.

although a high post count can also mean that your a post-whore and just reply with carp for the sake of it ....

i wouldnt look too much into it ;)

My high post count makes me more of a man than the rest of you.

Back when Gilly had a post count of 50,000 he was displaying the future of masculinity, he had an e-wine bottle stuffed down his pants.
 
and it stops long running word association style threads too, which would have been a great social experiment to analyse ppls answers.

I think its all about waving a larger e-penis than the next person, but i may be wrong. But hey mines and yours have both gone up by one now!

I can't remember the exact abbreviation but late at night when drunk people
make threads that will most certainly get closed/locked people start typing
something like IBTL. i think it means "In before thread lock" for the sole
purpose of a post count.

I have posted IBTL before and my post count has never occurred to me :)
