How bid do the Bearded Dragons grow, i have been thinking about getting one, i need to look at some care sheets before i do though because i have never had a lizard before, and do they tent to be safe (Dont tend to bite).

They grow 18-22 inches, about half of which is the tail.

Not a very demanding Lizard in comparison to some, and they are rarely anything but completely tame. Some people even suggest they ENJOY human company rather than just tolerate it.

How long do they live? Wouldn't mind one or two of these when I get the new place sorted. Do they prefer company of their own kind or are they territorial?

Also look at Rankins Dragon, like a bearded but smaller, means you can have a smaller vivarium.

They are fine together if u want more than 1, also its not the dragon thats expensive, its the set-up so its not like your adding lots of cost by having 2.

Cool,

Are they OK to leave out quite a lot? I like the idea of one scuttling around my desk while I'm on the puter :p Are they tame enough to recover easily when you want to put them back or do they tend to leg it?

Depending on how well they're cared for they can live about 8 years.

The question on whether they can live together is a debatable one. Some will say it's fine (aslong as it's two females, or a male and a female) and others will say it shouldn't be done. I've heard stories of two Beardies living happily together for years and then one day suddenly turning on eachother and fighting to the death........

So I'd personally advise not to risk it.

I've heard Rankins Dragons can be kept together just fine though, as the poster above me has said.

And Beardies are very tame so keeping them out of their enclosure for long periods of time is fine. Probably a good idea to have a good desk lamp or something near-by so they can sit under it and warm up a little if the room is a little on the cool side but generally they'll be fine. As for trying to run away when you try and put them back, it can happen because it appears they do like being out but it won't be to the extreme that you can't catch your Beardie. My Beardie's current enclosure is accessable from the top only, so when I try and put him back he'll hook his legs on the top so I can't put him back. :D They slow down a lot as they grow too.

Haha thats so funny, my boa also pulls his head up and hooks his head on the edge of the tank, he is also known to pretend to coil up like he is going to attack for putting him back in, but it seems like he was only trying that to make us scared and not put him back in, he doesnt do it no more though because we put him in weather he coils or not because were used to it :P

The first time he did it i dropped him :P That was 1 week after i got him hehe so i was still a little warey of him.

more pictures of bearded dragons please!

Where can we get more information on keeping these? Startup costs e.t.c?

Thanks

Nope, not even attempted to.

Infact I've never even heard of a Beardie biting (or attempting to)..

The coolest thing is when they fall asleep on you. :) I hear it happens most often when they are adults, but if they're young, like mine, best chance of this happening is getting them before you'd normally turn their lights out for bed time. I had mine sleeping on my knee the other day while I was watching Eastenders. :D

That programme is enough to send anyone to sleep :p

EDIT: With lizards, is it recommended to keep them in their own room.. do they smell much?
