Post your new GTX 680 Here

Wow such a powerful card in such a little case  i guess my gtx 480 would be no good in there then :o

Hogwash. In those cases (I have one too, call it my fragbox) the card is literally right next to the side and the side is full of holes. So it's cooler in there than it was in my desktop (GTX 275).

All these threads make me wish I had MM access... People upgrade from 580's really??

They're upgrading from 7950s and 7970s too. Hilarious.

I don't see what is wrong with this myself (and it's something that people are being ridiculed for unfairly imo). It's an enthusiasts forum generally and people like to be at the absolute cutting edge, even if the performance gains are very small.

Also for some, and I include myself in this, it can be a bit of a thing, if you know what I mean. I don't really need to upgrade, but my obsession/thing/whatever means that I am thinking about it. If I couldn't afford it and was getting into debt then yeah, it's nuts. If I can afford it though I don't see the problem.

It's not so much ridicule from me as it is just pure lack of understanding.

I can only conclude that all these people make a lot more money than I do, and I thought I'm doing quite okay, and that they have more friends than I do. Since that's the only reason I can see for you to own two supercards and then upgrade to two other supercards, is to tell your friends "Yeah, it's a pretty sweet card, I have two of them."

There's no performance increase. There's no Need for you to "upgrade" from those 400-500 quid cards. When I say "no performance increase" I mean other than something saying a higher number and the letters FPS behind it, you can't see the difference.

I understand that people don't really Need Veyron's either, but I'd be equally jealous/bewildered at a Veyron as I'd be of someone trading 580's / 7970's for 680's.

Anyway, sorry, not trying to do the usual OCUK thread derail here :p

Some machine insides look quite cool!

I completely agree with all of what you say regarding performance but I am ashamed to admit that I just like new things to faff about with. It's a bit of a condition really. I don't tell friends so no willy waving involved. :)

I apologise and didn't mean to pick on your post. It's just that since the release of the 680 I've seen some trying to belittle people just because they may sell their 580's (or 7970's) and buy 680's. It takes all sorts and all that.

^^There's nothing to understand. Upgrading is fun, this is what people are enthusiastic about! New toys! ;D

Also, wish I had access to MM as well -_-. If I did I'd have seriously considered selling my 580 to get a pair of 4gb 680s. As it is I only have the auction place, which I will not risk selling high-value electronics on. :(

So instead waiting for 3gb 580 prices to drop even moarrr.

They'd probably get snapped up. The reports that the MM is raining 7970's and pouring 580's is vastly over-stated. ;)

No offense taken, just explained my POV B1gbeard :)

Come to really think of it, it is true that if you manage to stay on the edge all the time then you don't lose that much money in the process, as you'd be selling at a minimal loss so the upgrade doesn't cost you that much in the end.

Friend made a total loss of 50e swapping from iphone4 to 4S because people were willing to pay so much for his unlocked old one. I guess the same kind of percentual loss margin applies here.

That shuttle is friggin amazing, why do I have a massive PC :o

Unfortunately the fan is busted and sounds like a tank. RMA here I come.

Got mine installed last night, Pic below with the pair of 580's it will replace. That Gainward phantom is still a super sexy looking 580 though don't you think.

i wouldn't say throw away like other people have said it the simple economic of upgrading by selling your current item to get a new one - most times you end up not paying much and if that is the case it seems silly to not get a piece of tech if the price is low...
