We had a power surge in the whole building which has tripped the blew the main incommer and has sadly taken out one of our managed switches with it. Weve managed to get things back up and running and just about have enough ports on the others to sort it but moving forward I want to put something in the rack that would mean this sort of thing wont happen again. Can anyone anyone recommend a product I can look into or if you need anything more information I can supply any.

UPS with surge is the way to go. even if you only get 15mins on battery before it goes. USB Link up will at least shut servers down correctly then. APC is the brand I trust myself

We only have one server running the telecoms management software and a load of switches. I've had a quick look and a UPS costing the best part of £1k will only run for approx 12 minutes? Seems a lot of money for so little time or am I missing something?

1k is not a lot of crash if means everyone on that switch is still able to work.
