PowerColor 6970 pictured and benched

I'm wondering if the real strength of this gen of cards is Tesselation (?) - then I'm beginning to think about getting a 5870 and overclock it - for now, and then buy the next refresh of cards when they're out - which will be no doubt even faster - and games will be fully using DX11 by then too (I mean most games)

We shall be stocking HIS, Sapphire and XFX for launch, plus some very cheap OcUK cards, aka VTX3D. We might have a handful of Asus too. :)

However warranty wise we find HIS the best, very fast turnaround, Sapphire are good as well. XFX are OK and the others are just acceptable. Not that it matters as OcUK honour the warranty for the 2yr period anyway.

XFX are about the worst out of that lot, but whats the deal with the XFX warranty for the new cards, are OcUK be covering the claims or might we have to deal with XFX direct ?

I am seeing far better results than this Powercolor card!

You wont be stocking the Powercolor card then ?

Could someone please confirm whether the power connection is made on the 'top' of the card, or at the 'end'. (The 'end' being the panel directly opposite and parallel to the back of the case)

Thanks.

My PSU is an old Enermax Noisetaker 600W. Quite a nice supply, but not modular, and lacking in the number of 6 and 8 pin connections. I have both a 20/24 pin & 8 pin connected to the motherboard (I assume I need both), and I think 1 6 pin connector left. Will there be a problem running any of these new cards with that supply?
Thanks

Was the german correct after all?

As it turns out - yes. The results from the two Germans seem to fall right in line with what the "official" reviews are reporting: That overall performance is around that of the GTX570, that tessellation performance is greatly improved but still doesn't quite match that of Fermi, and that in certain circumstances (like stalker COP and F1 2010) the 6970 does very well.
