Hi all,

I have a double Din DVD player that i want to sell, Before i sell it i want to test it, take pictures of it working and make sure i have not left anything in the DVD/SD slot's.

Could i just use a 4 pin molex from an old 12 volt case fan to power it? if i only use the yellow and black wire?

Thanks

I have done just this to try out an old in-car head unit, so I don't see any reason why not....

Wire it up correctly, or you'll have a shocking result..... (ahem) :o

I've known of people doing it with car amps so I can't see the head unit bieng any different. You'd need to power the wire that tells the headunit that the "ignition" is on, but I don't see why not assuming it's a decent power supply you should be fine to get the lights on and take some pics. Just be careful with loose bare wires touching each other etc.

It's low voltage, unless you have the PSU casing open (why would you?) then there is no need to be scared of anything.

Use the PCI-E or ATX12V connector and it's pretty hard to get this wrong.

Connect green to black on the main ATX connector to turn the PSU on.

You'll need to hook it up to both the red and yellow wires on the stereo to power it up properly (and obviously the black for ground)
