Oh Hai guys i'd like to download a slide deck from an untrusted source. I'd like the content to around the dangers of downloading from untrusted sources.

An instructor in Information Security has provided me with said presentation.

I used to like this site, it used to be full of helpful people and you had a bit of banter. Now it just seems full of self righteous prima donna's.

Back to playing with the internet kiddies, let the grown ups get back to work now ;)

There is a valid reason people have told you to make your own. If you are doing it for either school work, or to get a job, you are asked to do it for a reason and that is so that the person who asked you to do it can see a piece of work that you are capable of creating. Going out and taking other peoples work and using that in such situations does not show that you are capable of creating such works, it just shows you are capable of taking them from others .

If a potential employer asked you to do a task, and you can't do that yourself then you don't deserve that job, there are most likely other candidates who are willing to do the correct work to get the job.

My work seems to be more worried about usb sticks and dropbox than anything else. Bringing in a powerpoint presentation written at home would be a definite no-no.

So I'd suggest turning up without a prepared slide show and giving an off the cuff talk on social engineering attacks, e.g. leaving usb sticks in car parks, taking usb sticks into interviews with embedded malicious code and so forth.

The paranoia of IT departments always makes me laugh, do they not have anti virus software anymore? And it's a bit silly being worried about USB sticks whilst your staff have almost fully blown access to the internet.

Half the time it's not about security, it's about control.

Whup dii doo for you.

Grown up? I think not. Get off your entitlement complex affected backside and do the work yourself.

Way to miss the point. My employer blocks access to all the cloud sync/filesharing sites plus FTP etc. Short of emailing the file out (which would be auditable) it's enough to the vast majority of the employees.

Data theft via USB is a far bigger problem than most companies will let on.
