Practical soon and car's broken :/

I'm assuming that the instructors car was also to be used during the test itself and not just for the pre-test lesson. If so that's really bad luck, hopefully the driving school will pay for the the rebooked test.

So to update an old post, guy who screwed me over ditched him, getting my money back for my test, took a instructor from the AA and boom I passed just a few mins ago! 5 minors, neeeeearly failed just as I was entering the test centre but was saved by the car in front but yeah this just made my year!

If your business revolves around getting people through their test then you should have a backup plan for the essential tool for your livelyhood breaks down.

2 hours should be enough to arrange an alternative.

the real hard learning is when your on your own with no experienced person in the passenger seat with a set of pedals to stop you doing something wrong.

its a great sense of feeling but don't be stupid like some of my mates and suddenly think your the best driver in the world just because you passed a test that says you meet the minimum requirement to drive a car.

sorry for the pessimistic sounding post but you hear on the news about young drivers all the time who have crashed with a car full of mates, its just tragic.

other than that, well done and enjoy your new freedom

One my friends did just take on the first time out by himself - down my road too (it turned into a country lane). I declined to join him as I didn't trust him behind the wheel (I'd been with him during the evening round the town and even a couple of beers didn't change my opinion!) - he got about a mile down the road before the left it and ended up in a ditch about 70 yards from where he left the road. thankfully just wrote the car off but a couple of feet to the side and he would have been embedded in a tree.
