Pre owned xbox elite or the new xbox?

As long as you get a Jasper 150 watt version its a no brainer if you like Fifa or want to sell or trade to make the console less than a ton. I was tempted by the new one just because it was new, but got a 120gb Elite and if you burn your games onto the hdd its evens reasonably quiet which was my only criticism of my previous Xbox.

I bought a slim 4gb which came with a couple of games and then went and traded them for the 120gb hard drive from a high street store. Total cost was about 145 for the slim with 120gb.

£120 for a pre owned Elite, with Fifa 11.

£210 for the new xbox, with Fifa 11.

Apart from the HDD increase what's the advantage of buying the new one?

Got the new slim 360 with 250GB hdd and i love it, bought it new, remember when you buy second hand your always making a bit of a gamble as to how long it will last as you dont really know how the last person before you treated it, so buy new if you can.

That's right its mostly just a bright red dot with some bleed out around the edge.

Yes, sometimes comments like these do make me wonder. Its like all those that say the reason you get screen tear in some titles is down to the HDMI cable or your TV isn’t good enough.

I’m sure the new slim can RROD just as good as the older models, give it time. We’ll see threads about slims giving up the ghost before long.

The reasons for RROD are well known, heat + motherboard flex = BAD!

The 175W Falcon version was a big step up in RROD reliability, but not perfect, the 150W Jasper was another big step up in reliability, I think the last Valhalla was probably as bullet proof as you can expect..

Lets see in a couple of years, but as an Engineer it does seem MS have (at last) sorted things out in the RROD respect, but you can't rule out any potential timebombs, it would seem the PS3 Phat is showing an upturn in unreliability with YLOD and Blu-ray drives, the very reason I discounted getting one, and opted for a new Slim as I felt it would be more reliable for the same reasons the 360S is, better CPU/GPU manufacturing process leading to less power consumption, and therefore less heat to stress it..
