Potter is a good manager. Hes just not the right manager for a side run like Chelsea. Very few managers are. Same as RM. They need a motivator and tactician as much as a coach and they have to respect the coach for him to work. The methods that work at a small club don't work at a bigger one quite often. Moyes came to United an tried to manage in the same way he had at WH. The players unsurprisingly didn't like that.

I'm honestly amazed that he lasted as long as he did.

Zidane would be a good shout then.

This has to have killed Chelsea now with regard to FFP, £21m paid to Brighton to get him then £60m to sack him, all coming off in one hit.
think they are 200m+ in the hole before his sacking heading into next years figures.

Last years just announced had -100m plus in the red.

I believe they will get special allowances because the sale of the club was forced.

Probably need to raise around 130m in players sales this summer.

*Everton
Zidane's only ever coached Real for whatever reason.

He'd be my choice for Chelsea logically.
Z Ida E seems to have the horn for the France job and has consistently turned down other offers from other teams. I don’t think he wants anything else but France.

Wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers goes straight into Chelsea. Having been one of their former coaches.
Yeah Rodgers to Chelsea on an interim basis for a view to extending. Potter to Leicester. Elaborate manager swap, a bit like a wife swap I suppose in the sense it will seem like a great opportunity at first and then they'll get tired of being ****ed by a rich American / Thai.

I quite like Rodgers - not really sure why.

He might be able to get a tune out of that Chelsea squad, but it will be very difficult...

Boehly will have to accept that a new manager will want to streamline the squad significantly, and he may have to suffer some significant losses. No manager will want that many players, too many problems.

They need to sell players anyway to balance their books if they want to sign more players in the summer. I imagine they will sell 4-5. Who that will be is up for discussion. Imagine Mount, Koulibali, Cucarella, Lukaku as a start.

Finding all the stories about how hard done by Potter has been and how brutal the sacking was to be really odd. He didn't deliver for whatever reason and was given far more time that most would be. I don't blame the guy but he was getting about 50% from that set of players.

Bad take after bad take from you today

Found out after a few months in charge of a club ran like a kid in a candy shop…

I honestly thought Potter had done well because of Brighton and the mystique of an English manager going abroad and all that. His win percentage at Chelsea ended up 38%. That is nearly as bad as Steven Gerrard at Villa and he is terrible. Unai Emery with the same set of players is at 52.9%. That just shows the gulf in quality of managers. You can make excuses for the way Chelsea is ran etc but with that set of players a poor season would be top 6.

I think Potter has done well because of the way Brighton is ran rather than him being a fantastic manager. Even his spells with Championship teams haven't been anything special.

Steve Cooper is doing a fantastic job at Forest. Also look at Carrick at Middlesbrough or Kompany at Burnley. Those guys are doing great things in the championship. Both with win percentages in the 60's. They are the kind of managers we should be looking at for the future.

A manager that plays "good looking" football is no good if you are getting beat every day. A good manager knows what to do to get the best out of his players.

SAF was a master of this. Everyone thinks United as this free flowing attacking force but forgets in the 90's where grinding out a 1-0 or 0-0 draw was important especially away in Europe but people don't remember this as it was pre possession stats etc.

I'd take Potter right now, because Brighton are similar to Leicester, it could be a nice fit.

His win % is approx 42% at Forest and thats fantastic? Whereas 38% is terrible...? Just Adam things

In the Championship it was in the mid 60's. Obviously it is a massive struggle for Forest to stay up especially as the vast majority of their squad left at the end of last season and they have signed so many players. He is in a completely different situation to Potter. If Forest stay up it will be a fantastic job considering they were near the bottom of the Championship when he took over.
