Price drop! Price drops! Price Drops!

Im getting some money on the 23rd of this month and im planning a new rig.
Unfortunatly the forums are full of stuff about price drops both for CPUs and Graphics Cards. i was just wondering if i should wait , and if so how long will it be! I dont want to buy my rig then find its dropped in prices by hundreds the next day

but at the same time i dont want to wait months

The main price drops are rumoured to be the Core 2 Duo processors and the 8800 Graphics card series. This is due to AMD/ATI releasing the Barcelona processor and the R600 GFX. I don't think the price drops are going to be astronomical though, and probably won't come into effect until shortly before the AMD/ATI releases.

will there be a set date for the cpu drop, i know the graphics card could be a long wait due to ati date moving back all the time

Iirc April 22nd i think was rumoured to be the date that c2d's are dropped. Don't hold me to that though.

I'll eat my hat if the 8800 drops more than £20.
Me wants one but £200 is just daft seeing as it's probably going to struggle with dx10 at max details.

i know! thats another thing, my rig is gonna be water cooled so i dont want to end up buying ne water blocks when i have to upgrade my graphics card again im so tempted to just run my the graphics on air till all this dx10 rubbish settles down

My advice would be "That you will always wait for tomorrow" Buy the very best you can afford and if you can stretch that extra £30 or so for a component then do it.
