Price hike on 2500k

if you've only got the 1 shop who has the majority of stock out there, it's inevitable there will be price rises due to "demand".

I don't want to be rude but have you considered looking elsewhere? OCUK are not the only component shop in the world.

agreed, can be found much cheaper elsewhere and yes they have them in stock.
it doesnt pay to loyal in this day and age, its great that ocuk can get away with it tbh as im sure their getting orders in still but it doesnt mean you have to shop with them if they want to be ridiculous about prices

I hardly ever spend at ocuk anymore. Yes this forum is good but the prices on most stuff now is more than you can get from other well known etailers. I dont know why ocuk do it as people arent stupid and will just spend elsewhere?

Its because people still order. I'm going to be ordering that bundle when this pesky cheque clears on Friday.

For instance...

Intel i5 2500k

OCUK - £201.99
XXXX - £178.99

Asus P8P67 Pro

OCUK - £149.99
XXXXX - £145.19

Intel X25-V 40GB SSD

OCUK - £77.99
XXXX - £71.99

Just in these few items alone you would have saved at least £33.80!

Thats a lot of saving for what is just 3 products!

Even the underbosses are getting upperty now eh? Looks like we need an ocuk revolution! Off with their heads!

Most people become ignorantly loyal to ocuk or are just plain lazy. I find it amusing when people say they shop here because the rma service is good. I'd like to know if they have ever even tried to rmasomething to ocuk which wasn't DOA.

SInce when??? :D

To be fair to OcUK, their business practices are pretty transparent, and there can't be any regulars here who don't know they have become very clever -- and no doubt sensible from a business POV -- when it comes to managing supply and demand. That's why we get the bargains on slow-moving product lines, and get a little bit milked on popular stuff that's in stock.

Early adopter tax is not a new thing. :-) Some might say this is just fate's way of suggesting you wait until the rev 2 motherboards are out (always a wise move!), or even wait to see what happens to the pricing on the "old" i5/7 lines.

Up until now the i5 2500K was on offer. Think it was on this week only up until earlier today. Agreed, with OcUK having a large proportion of the share of stock they can put prices up based on "demand" and can get away with it. A quick Google search, and you can get it for £178.99 inc. VAT from a competitor!! Other big competitors and etailers are only on pre-order at the moment tho.

Regarding customer services and RMAs, some are better than others. Not experienced OcUK RMA but there are plenty of stories, both good and bad about most retailers. There are a lot of forum members who swear by OcUK customer services but plenty on other sites who are very wary of dealing with them again.

Have to agree here i know its a business but that hike has just stopped a 600 quid order by me today.

Once you buy one thing from another shop thats covered P&P so the rest is usually irrelevant. I don't shop about much usually going straight to OCUK but today i did and its surprising how much cheaper stuff can be got for

one thing i cant fault OCUK for is its website,,,, it so bloody good compared to others.

I agree prices are just over the top like the noctua nh-d14 £10 cheaper elsewhere with free postage too, so we all have to shop around to get a good price in hard times.

It is interesting the price hike here.

I bought my 2500K in the first week it was released before the price increase and so bought from OcUK.

It makes me wonder about the free shipping to loyal members.. am starting to think that OcUK bung the odd couple of quid on some products to recoup that cost.

I do agree there is no reason for ocuk to sell for less and thats why they aren't doing it. It seems like they have done a deal with intel which has basically given them the monopoly over the uk. I'm guessing it can't last past the end of this month or that would be starting to take the **** and the other shops in particular might have something to say about not getting stock.

Either way, there is google and everyone knows at least another 3 shops they could turn to for price checks. There is no reason to keep telling ocuk that the price is expensive when they clearly already know as they probably know the prices of other shops better than we do.

That being said I don't think it's a bad idea for the ocuk community to remind ocuk when they think ocuk is taking the biscuit ;).

The price's were like this before the free shipping.

True, I find it so strange that so many hardware shops have such unintuitive and just plain right lazy design. Some of them I actually just give up trying to find what I want on. Makes you wonder just how tech savy the owners really are as you'd expect a hardware shop to have a well built website!

You only just thought about it for me theres no such thing as free postage someone has to pay DPD so im sure postage will be considered when o.c decide there prices on products.
