Price hike on 2500k

The price's were like this before the free shipping.

Ah really? I haven't bought any serious hardware parts for about 4 years I must be out of touch with prices.

I think many can be guilty of that and just go with the same supplier automatically.

You only just thought about it for me theres no such thing as free postage someone has to pay DPD so im sure postage will be considered when o.c decide there prices on products.

True true.. But I was trying to say it in a nice way and not to sound ungrateful for the free shipping. Some of OcUK prices aren't that bad and the free shipping can be a real money saver... at times.

It's a reputation ocuk have always had, if you frequent any other forums you'll likely see their name come up quite a bit as a result.

That being said I spose I can't really say for definite that the prices were always this jacked up as I can't say I've kept a mental note of the price increase percentage through the years.

:EDIT:

It is worth noting as well that many places now do free shiping to forum members now and their prices are cheaper. But it's also worth noting that one of the places in particular does not give warranties with the manufacturer. This means oftern many of their products only have a 1 year warranty with the company it's self. Not something I would consider buying.

It is interesting the price hike here.

I bought my 2500K in the first week it was released before the price increase and so bought from OcUK.

It makes me wonder about the free shipping to loyal members.. am starting to think that OcUK bung the odd couple of quid on some products to recoup that cost.

How much was it on release day?

On the internet the reputation of ocuk maybe different but locally (at least with the people i know) is that ocuk carry lots of stock , hence you can usually get something in stock on the day but the afterservice absolutely stinks and trying to get moeny back for a faulty product is like trying to get blood out of a stone.

I myself have exprienced ridiculous statements off staff at the front of house in ocuk , such as "your not entitled to a refund as it has to go back to the supplier , from day one" , and "no we just dont refund , sorry"

Them kind of statements are what give places a bad name.

True, that bundle for £299 was a good deal. Once stock arrives at other etailers the price will be forced down. Probably just a short period where they can get away with it.

Clue?

Sounds very much like a Scam this?

Did you shop around to see if that bundle was the cheapest at the time of ordering ?

Yep, I couldn't find it for less than the OcUK bundle.

I didn't spend long looking, but once I'd been to the two usual cheap retailers and they cost more, I gave up.

One thing you guys need to remember is the support OcUK offer. You couldn't phone up one of the other retailers and ask for help with your overclock. I've built most of my systems with OcUK where prices are close enough to alternative retailers, simply because of the support and customer service that I've received. It helps having staff that aren't just senseless sales drones but rather people that are actually interested in what they sell.

My last machine, I cocked up on the motherboard so I phoned them whilst I was at work (no PC access) and asked for advice on a replacement, they went through my requirements and budget and made a suggestion based on that.

This 2500K build was met with Saturday delivery for the price of next day after a mistake was made with my order late on Friday.

That said, more than about £30 over a full build and I'd go elsewhere.

It's not a scam, though personally I dislike the attitude of the owners as they don't talk professionally at all on their forum's and can be quite rude.

They openly state that they source their hardware elsewhere and as a result it's cheaper but the warranty is with the shop instead. Which isn't always a bad thing but a lot of their warranties as a result are only 1 year long, which is a bad thing. It's basicaly like you are buying all the parts as if they were boxed oem. Not bad for a cpu, case etc because they just don't break if they arn't broken the first year usualy. But for a gpu I would not buy from there.

If you ever purchase an item and the supplier states 1 year warranty with them like overclockers do then you should always deal with the supplier even if they say 'no go to manufacturer'.
As for prices, its a market like insurances and investments through banks. Just shop around and get the best deal you can and check whoever you choose is right for you.

Its not being forced for you to purchase at the end of the day, but people who have noticed the price hike will without doubt do a Google to see if its across the board or just one e-tailer and make the decision from there.

As the inflation is getting worse and prices are going up on most things we buy. I suspect that most OC forum members will use the power of google shopping to find a deal out there.
So I am not over worried about price hike as I will use google to determine my purchase decision.
As mention is this thread, loyalty in most things does not count for much these days
, sad, but true.

Shopping around is always the wise option, after lots of research and putting delivery into the picture. As people have said, we don't HAVE to buy here. Even though most of the time i do if its going to be cost effective.

I got the 2600k for £258 and the ASUS P8P67 Pro for £142 including next day delivery on both. :) Ordered Sat morning on the 8th and both arrived on the 10th (Monday).

I would like to start shopping here as a new customer as the forums are very good and I really like the site. Howerver at the time of my order the from the other retailer I checked here and the 2600k was £280 and pro £150 ....I'm not going to pay an extra £30 plus shipping cost which is £8 I recall as I'm not a loyal OCUK member.
