Price rise on the 6850 bad idea surely?

The only reasons I can think of is his 5850 died, he bought the 6850 for another PC or the 6850 in Xfire (I think) beats 5850 in Xfire.

No you won't. I think it's best you give the card to me and I'll give you my 8800GTS which may or may not be working ;)

On the latest iteration of our power consumption chart the 6850 underconsumes even the already conservative 5850 by 20W under Crysis and 25W under FurMark, showcasing how AMD was able to reduce their power consumption by a significant amount while giving up much less in the way of performance.

Compared to the 6800 series NVIDIA does notably worse here, with all of the GTX 460 cards pulling down more power than the 6870 and the GTX 470 being in a league of its own. While NVIDIA was competitive with Cypress on power, they’re not in a position to match Barts. They can deliver Barts-like performance (and then some), but they have to consume more power to do it."
 
Just read a techpower review, decided on the hd 6850 for 150 pounds looks ok and the difference between the hd 6850 and hd 6870 is some cases is quite small, gonna find the Asus direct cu version
 
I'm on holiday in the states just now and was in a retailor store, the 1Gb 460 was $209.99, the 470 was $249.99 thats around 135quid and 160quid. The 6850 is $199.99 and $239.99 respectively. WORK IT OUT WE GET STIFFED IN THE UK.:(
 
Seriously though, we do get raped in the UK and the retailers seem to do a lot of price gouging which doesn't help, basically a very greedy country.

And VAT is going up at the end of the year! :(

Greedy resellers...pushing their luck as always as soon as benches are out! I very much doubt that the RRP has changed since release. GTX 460 @ £150 still seems to be the sweet spot!
