we have our own plotter to plot drawings at work. i was doing some today and the toner ran out. i got a new toner and proceeded to install it. i don't know what i did wrong but it didn't work and when i opened the tray to see what was wrong, i got a cloud of toner in the face, it went all over the room too. i cleaned up as much as i could but i didn't have the time to do a proper clean up and i replaced the toner with another one and is now working.
i was a bit concerned about breathing in the toner though, i forced myself to cough though no evidence of black toner came up though my lungs definitely feel a little tender now though i'm wondering if this is because of me forcing myself to cough.

iam a smoker but have not had my lungs feeling like this before..

You need to check the material safety data sheet for the toner.

Either from the manufacturer website or via your health and safety dept.

(it is harmless)

Toner is just very fine plastic (average particle size probably 4-5µm) with a pigment and charge control agent. Although not overly harmful it will be an irritant if ingested or inhaled (in great quantaties).

The feelign in your lungs will pass, if not by the morning. I had the same where I was working before when I was developing a new method of producing the powder. Got it wrong (but right) once with a nylon based material and filled the entire factory with a very fine mist of this powder and it had the same effect on me, but it passed - I'm sure you'll be fine. If you;re owrried see a doctor or phone NHS Direct

disclamer: this is my experience and I am not suggesting I am giving the best advice..... but hey.....
