Hi all

Cooking a meal on Sunday, I really don't cook often, and the bulk of my cooking skills come from uni where I lived on pasta and not a lot else. So needless to say I'm pretty clueless when it comes to the kitchen

However, I'm giving it a go on Sunday and for a starter, I want to bake camembert cheese and serve up with red onion marmalade and ciabatta. Now I've bought the camembert, from Tesco, which came in the little cardboard/wooden casing, now my question is, be prepared to laugh, once I take the plastic off around the cheese itself, can I put it in the oven in that cardboard/wooden container? Obviously heat and wood don't usually mix, but I thought it might be specially made to be oven safe. Obviously in restaurants they serve it in similar containers when they bring it out, but I don't actually know if they prepare it in their too.

If not, best tips for cooking it properly? I've got all my recipes online, but can't seem to find advice about this.

Thanks all

Depending on the wood it won't burst into flames until far higher than the oven temperature.

If you're worried soak the wood in water (without cheese) before putting in oven. Personally I'd neatly line the box with foil.

Try and find a recipe on the internet as I've tried this before and it takes a suprising long time to heat the cheese all the way through.

Also apple slices are great as an accompaniment as the sharp acid and crunch contrast the oozing fattiness.
