Hi all.

I have a gigabyte z270 ultra gaming, a Pentium g4560, and corsair vengeance 3200 ram.

It was my understanding that the g4560 would only support up to 2400 ram. I bought the 3200 ram as it was on offer and the same price as 2400.

At first the ram was running at 2166 Mhz. I selected the xmp? Profile in bios and now it's running at 3200 Mhz... i didnt think this was possible due to the limitations of the g4560... or have i misunderstood?

Thanks

With XMP it's possible, not sure about that board but many list the stock supported speed but also support 'overclocked' higher speed.

2,133 is the DDR4 default, if in doubt check in CPU-Z and the speed is listed there (it will be listed as half the set rate as it's dual channel so x2).

A short explanation is that the G4560 "officially" supports up to the DDR3-2400 standard, but that doesn't mean it won't work with overclocked RAM, just that there's no guarantee it will work.
