hi,

got a problem whereby i'm trying to hook a inspiron 1501 up to a tv via a vga cable.

it works fine with a 1m cable but i want to use a 1.5m one so i can arrange it neatly by the tv.

the 1m cable works fine, but the 1.5m cables results in a "no sync" message, i've checked the 1.5m cable on pc and another laptop and it works fine.

any ideas why it should be a problem on the inspiron ?

cheers,

There's not enough drive power to maintain the sync signal. Try switching from Monitor + VGA to VGA only. Alternatively, use a better (less lossy) cable or a VGA buffer to maintain.

Thicker usually means better insulated so a reasonable chance of better performance. If you want something that'll definitely work with paying daft prices or messing about ordering online only to find the same issues then trust me a message and I'll sort out the right bit of gear for you.

A VGA buffer - it's a booster for computer signals.
