I have 2x1Gb OCZ PC3200 XTC 2-3-3-8

The problem is that i have my cpu clocked @ 3Ghz 300x10 & i'm trying to run my memory at stock timings on a 133 divider ,so that it will be running @200Mhz 2-3-3-8 1T @2.8v

When i try this, the pc wont even boot  Anything less than the 140mhz divider & it won't boot

I have to drop it to cas 2.5-3-3-8 to get into windows,so its running at 214Mhz just now  But it won't boot on a lower divider

How come i can't get the 133 divider or below to work ?

Any idea's would be great

Thanks for the answer Tom :D

Any suggestions or am i stuck with using the 140 divider & using cas 2.5 if i want to keep my overclock @ 3Ghz

Cheers,

Well, when i had the chips that couldnt do it there was no workaround.

People on here will probably claim its the mobo/mem.

But i guarentee that if you stuck a different chip in there every divider will work perfectly.

As Welshtom has said, some chips have problems with 2Gbs of memory on dividers, I've found that its not only the chip that causes problems but the type of RAM used effects it too. I couldn't use Geil Value below the 150 divider, but Ballistix seemed happier below that with the same chip.

Another tip is to manually set the Max Asynch Latency and Preamble timings in the RAM menu, this can help stability, atleast I found it did :)

Try using MAL 9 / Preamble 8, its slow but it may help :) Have a fiddle around to find whats best for you.

I had a 3700 that couldnt run my corsair sticks on a divider above 2.5ghz. Got another 3700 and that runs 2gb corsair sticks at 140 divider while its at 3.1ghz. Just luck of the draw

Brilliant guys, many thanks for the suggestions,i'll away & have a fiddle & see what happens

Do you think it would maybe be wise to change my ram over or keep it till i go X2 & see how it gets on with that cpu ? It also seems to struggle running cas 2 at anything above 200Mhz 2-3-2-7 is ok @ 200Mhz but won't post at the same timings @ 205Mhz

You are a genius mate !!!

Changed both these settings & the divider works ok now :D Booted into windows @ 2-3-3-8 @200Mhz using the 133 divider.First time i've been able to do that.

Now to try & tighten them up a bit ;)

Cheers

Thanks for the tip, my SD 3700+ and Ballistix PC3200 will also not run on any divider, only 1:1

Let me know if it helps you out, I only really stumbled upon it when fiddling with the few obscure memory timings I had left, because not being able to use the dividers was driving me nuts.

I am just lucky my Ballistix PC3200 runs up to 260Mhz with 2.5-2-2-8-1T timings and I have a 11x multi so 1:1 performance is fine.

But when I get a 2gb kit that might change.
