Hi all, just a quick question regarding warranties; I'm looking to buy a monitor from a seller on a certain online department store which was a) bought in March and b) came with three years warranty.

If I purchase said item and get a copy of, for example, an online invoice or something similar, is the warranty useable by myself should a problem arise?

Regards,
Adam

Firstly, edit out the name of that store before you get a ban.

Secondly, in my experience warranties on small items aren't transferable. You could possibly argue that in court, but most won't due to the costs etc.

In the case of a car, it seems acceptable to transfer the warranty. So I am not entirely sure, but I guess the best thing you could do would be to contact the seller regarding any warranty problems. You could always relay your problems through them and they could relay it to the manufacturer and get it sorted that way. It will also depand on if they are a buyer or a re-seller.

I am sure you could get it sorted either way, just be careful and make sure you know what to do (by contacting them about this matter before you buy).
