Evening all,

I'm considering going for a couple of jobs, one of which invlolves Project Management and one Traffic Planning (dur). Both state that they involve a 3 year training package during which time I will be expected to study towards professional qualifications in the respective field (fully funded and time given).

My issue is that in the short term I'll be limiting my earning potential (maybe 4-5k rise over the course of the training period excluding bonuses).

So maybe someone with experience in either of these fields might have an idea of what accreditation I would be working towards and whether it's actually worthwhile from a career perspective?

Sorry for the vagueness!

Project Management is likely to be Prince2 certification. If so, then the benefit of getting "Practitioner" certfiied (foundation level is v.easy btw) is that you will know your risk registers from your criical path... but honestly it depends. In some industries its a must, in others (software dev for instance) its a very optional thing. More important in PM is your experience and track record etc + domain experience.

I'd heard of Prince2 actually and wondered if that would be the one. I understand that with most of these things it is going to largely be on your body of provable work but in a way the training would hopefully allow me to present it a little better.

thanks btw!
