Hey,

Just wondering if there are any companies who offer professional looking paid email addresses rather than using our isp or some free email addy.

just setup a cheap domain name for some posh sounding company :)

have as many as you want

register1.net, setup a domain name and get email forwarding, costs next to nothing. I have been using my blueyonder telewest email addy with a proper one for 3 years and never a problem. Its very simple, bu domain name login to control panel and setup email forwarding. So if you buy www.ilovecarpets.co.uk you can set up a forward of [email protected]

if you leave blueyonder will that still work?

Yes. You can forward it to where ever you want incl. Gmail and yahoo. (Just set reply with incoming email address or what ever it is called.)

Its for work related, and with isps its very hard to get somthing short because everything is taken

I was reading one of many links about CVs and it had a bit about not having silly email addresses.. it mentioned getting one from ft.com but i'm not quite sure how (financial times). I think your name @gmail.com would look fine to be honest, as long as you can get it without lots of numbers etc..

Unless you work or have a company I dont see why a @ntlworld.com or bt email isnt professional.

tbh it isnt professional, ntl, aol, hotmail etc just reaks of small business/ clueless about the web which isnt a bad thing but having a proper email addy really speaks for itself. I would respect a company more if it was more organised, its just the way of the world. Get up to speed, there is nothing worse than a van providing a product with [email protected] on the side. Its so simple to do properly then why not do it properly?

Get a cheap domain, as others have said, but rather than just forwarding perhaps use Google Apps (free) to allow you to properly send and receive mail from @youdomain.com
