I would love to know why AM set their engines to produce so little horse power (when compared to cars with similar engine sizes)?!
When the current V8 vantage was released it only produced 380bhp. They've now up'd it to 420bhp iirc. Surely a sports car costing close to 90k should offer more power.
Same goes for their V12 engines. They only offer between 510 and 570 (new vanquish). One would expect an V12 to produce atleast 100bhp more than the lowest amount. Very odd....

It's because the underpinnings and a lot of the technology and design is quite old now. Don't forget that it's naturally aspirated, though.

I'm aware their cars are N/A. Just compare their engines to whats on offer from the likes of Mercedes and Ferrari

Most likely because AM gearboxes are/were made of cheese. Not hard cheese either. Primula.
