Hey all, this is my first mod so I expect to make a few mistakes (I have already!)

The main theme will be a gloss black exterior with a gloss white interior, I also decided to use Xilence fans for the red, plus they seem to be decent fans for the price.
Some of the mod's i'll be doing are:

Painting interior and exterior
Modifying exhaust to fit two 92mm fans (was 80mm)
Modify intake to fit two 120mm fans (was 80mm).
Replace plastic intake with steel mesh grill.
Side window mesh mod.
Filling line around the door and and filling lock hole to give a smoother look.
Suspended hard drives as the 120mm fan mod will take away previous HDD cages, though I might put some rails on the floor of the case *idea*.

Some pics of how far I've got:

Start with the front panel, cutting the lock out:

Cutting out the front plastic grill, I cut off a little extra, the colour change is where i've filled the hole in and sanded it.

Intake cut, waiting for aluminium plate to come where the 120mm fans will be mounted on:

This is how I wanted the side panel to look:

Though I extended this to cut off the handle:

I've got mesh, some more fans, aluminium and pop rivets coming this week. Friday is supposed to be a nice day so I will get the rest of the inside painted and put back together.

Oh, the spec for what's going inside:

A64 3500 w/ Freezer 64
Gigabyte K8N Sli
XFX Geforce 7600GS
1GB Kingston
250GB SATA Western Digital
80 IDE Western Digital
80GB IDE Seagate

The motherboard and GFX card are silent and the CPU fan is very quiet as it's on a fan controller at 7v, i'll probably have all the case fans at 7v so it will hopefully be a very quiet system! :D ;)

With that colour scheme its a shame you didnt go for some sharkoon fans, is it too late to change?

PK!

Already ordered the xilences though I think a bit of red with the black will do nicely.

Mesh came today, got 2 big panels 900mm*500m :D A lot of mesh for £20.

Just to give you an idea of the type/gauge/diameter of the mesh:

And look what came today!

That black stuff is so more trim for the fan holes.

The plan for this weekend is to have a go at the plastic facia installing the mesh and filling the neccesary parts.

I'm still here!

Been a bit quiet recently as i've got an interview coming up on tuesday and i've had a chest infection.

Anywho, i've got the front plate cut, just need to drill the holes to mount the fans:

That needs filing and painting then I can pop-rivet it back in.

Also started working on the side panel:

Just to show how much I gave on each side:

I've got some clear perspex which should be here within a week :D

Thanks mate :)

Will hopefully get some more done on wednesday, thinking about the width of this case, i'd probably need to do some ajustments to the window if I get a cooler like the noctua (12cm version) or similar.

The acylic arrived today, though it's slightly scuffed/scrated on the surface, not sure how much of a problem this is going to be. I'll be doing some more work between tommorow and sunday so i'll update sunday :)

Just getting a list of hardware i'm going to install in it at the moment.

Pop to a hardware store and get some acrylic polish. With some time and a damp cloth you can make any scuffs dissappear.

Excellent! Thanks a lot for reccomending that :)

Hadn't seen this project, think it was started when I was suspended. Looks great, which paints are you using?

I'm using halfords own ones, going to be taking the white off the interior though, it's not durable enough so i'll just be putting down a white primer instead. I was reccomended that just a colour coat on the inside will be enough.

I lie, looks like it was only the clear film ontop that made it look like it was scratched :o The actual acrylic is totally unscrated and sexy

[edit]: Preview, it will be painted black though:

Sorry about the picture quality :o Just using an old 3.2mp camera for this.

CustomPC couoldnt do it. In the end they set fire to it.

LMAO! I'm trying to do it at the moment but my nails are gonna snap off (and they're short!).

Got some intensive tar remover which seems to have loosened it a bit.

If you've got the CPC article could you send it my way please :)

this will sound darft but try vinegar

The tar seems to be working at the moment but thanks for the reply :)

Couple more pics, got the front sheet which is going to be the intake prepared for painting, I put some trim on there to see how symetrical it looks:

front%20intake+trim.JPG

probably would have helped if I took a photo showing the symetary

How it looks with the fan:

Project is going to be a bit slow until friday, need to get some car body filler but can't until payday. Still, if there's a sunny day this week i'll start to do some more painting.

Thanks mishima :)

Next couple of things to do include:

-Sanding the frame
-Completing the mesh structure of the plastic front.
-Painting the side panel + mesh to see how that will look.
-Completing the exhaust, going to have it look like this:
