Project Black and White Dragon.

How many coats of primer do people use? I've just done the second for the side panel and it looks like it is probably done (1 coat up-to-down, 1 coat left-to-right).

Gave the mesh another coat because it didn't look like it got enough primer, though it's quite white now!

I guess i better be careful with you being a body builder :) I dont mean to sound too critical, but your circular cutouts are not very even, maybe you should invest in a holesaw, its easy to get perfect circle cutouts with them

I was thinking that right after I cut it out :o

Oh, and bugger: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=1222

Small update:

Did a couple of colour coats on the side panel and mesh today:

I'll put it together with the acrylic tommorow to see how it will look. Then i'll laquer it ;)

Not at all, sometimes I need a kick up the arse! :p ;)

About the mesh, do you mean it will be louder because it will resonate? I'm trying the keep noise to a miniumum (the gfx I've chose is heatpipe cooled).

There's acrylic there aswell like so the layer is like this:

Outside case
side panel
acrylic
mesh
inside case

But yea, there will only be 6 fans, 1 from PSU, one from HSF, two intake, two exhaust.

Thanks for all the comments guys, it's really appreciated :)

its been a whole day with no updates!!! any progress?

Haha! Not much today, started leveling out the cuts on the windowed side panel but I've ran out of dremel discs and masking tape. And I don't just want to do it by eye.

Not sure when I can prime the rest of the panels, it's supposed to be raining for the next few days :(

No pics for the moment, need to get some more batterys, filling in the front with loctite bodyfiller today, waiting for the first bit to dry. If you know the front panel of a chieftec dragon i'm filling in the door part at the moment in these places:

The strip which goes around the inside, the case badge area and the lock hole.

Just been applying primer to the top and bottom panels, ran out so no more of that today! Also it's getting quite windy so that's no good either!

****ing it down in june, who would have guessed :p I'll try and get some wet sanding done to the panel I filled yesturday to see how that turned out, though it doesn't seem rock hard like I would have thought. It's slightly bouncy.

OK, I get it, you people won't comment in a thread unless it has pictures, i'll go get some batteries!

Been painting this morning, primer on the top and bottom panels and spraying the 5.25 inch bay cage (white). Going to do some sanding on the door later on.

Fine! :p

First the door:

Front filled and sanded down:

The back of the front door (need to be sanded):

If weather is nice later I might do some more painting.

I used 'Loctite Professional filler - plastic padding'. You can get a tub of it from Halfords for around £6. Though i've found the hardener only lasts about half of the putty. It might feel quite rubbery once it's set but it's perfectly fine to sand down (i'd reccomend an electric sander like a detail sander or orbital, and don't apply too much, just enough).

I think there's still some tiny little bits on the front of the panel that need to be filled but it's 99% done.
