Been quite a while since I posted any pictures... mainly because there's been nothing interesting happening really.

Just been busy getting the bodywork in order, car park dings filled in and smoothed and RiPz has been kind enough to help me out by welding the sills. One down, one more to go!

Also got a new bumper after I ran into the back of someone, and also had the opportunity to redesign my front grille.

Anyway... after sanding down my old wing and filling in the rusty hole around the indicator, I went ahead and primed the whole thing...

only to find out the guy who I bought my new bumper off, had a wing in my colour.

So, after driving around with my wing in primer for a month and having everybody staring at the car as I went past (could have really done with tinted windows at this point) I went and picked up the new wing last night.

Not only did the guy throw in Coupe mudflaps, but he threw in the other wing as well!

So, today I set about changing both front wings.

I've got some front rub strips for the bumper to go on, and when they're fitted I'll probably screw my number plate onto the right hand side of the bumper, just under the rub strip.

I'm also trying to decide whether to get some silver mesh in the grille or paint the mesh in the bumper black. At first, I wasn't keen on the silver mesh in the bumper, but after seeing the black mesh in the grille, it just looks a bit bland... doesn't grab my attention in the way I thought it would.

So yeah, still loads to do before it can go in the bodyshop for a respray. Going to get both front doors and rear 3/4 panels resprayed as well as the bonnet, as I'm sure it's seen better days.

Hopefully, the rest of the welding should be done within a month or two and the side spats can go back on.

I've booked this week off work so that I can get some serious work done on the car. Just hope the weather holds out.

definately make the mesh go black. silver looks so out of place.

whats behind the mesh?

those are nice wheels too, they look like BBS. are they anything special?

Just the normal stuff. The guy I bought the bumper off had a front mount intercooler on his car, hence the extra hole where the number plate should go.

Seeing as how I'll be having an intercooler behind there at some point in the future too, I might as well keep the hole unblocked (i.e. put the number plate to one side).

Thanks for the comments on the wheels. You'll be suprised to know they're actually MG Hairpins as fitted to the ZR and ZS :)

Cheers Dan. Yeah, it's just a severe shortage of money that's stopping it from progressing.

Not much really do to now apart from prep it for the bodyshop, which involves filling in a few holes, sanding, etc etc. At least it's looking half decent though :D

The lower spoiler is standard for this model. The upper spoiler was one that I had when I owned the 214. It's a Roversports spoiler.

I got it back from westy when I went down to his for the RR. I wasn't sure if the car would look a bit OTT with both spoilers on, and at first I wasn't keen.

But now, I love it!

I must admit it isn't a bad look motor now. At least the added spoiler should decrease overall drag of the car by the looks of it. Should allow the air to break away from the car cleaner than before, which also means less will be going over the stock wing.

I can't remember, have you done any mods to the engine at all?

Thanks :)

Nope, no engine mods yet. Well... apart from NGK Iridium plugs (OMGZ 20HP EXTRA) and 8mm Magnecor leads (which are blue, so make it look pretty). Oh, not forgetting the 'zorst and de-cat.

Was going to get a K&N panel filter, but have decided to do a battery to boot conversion, get a cold air box and stick a nice green cotton cone filter on.

Next year should see a midly tuned turbo lump dropped in there, hopefully with a nice rollerbearing GT28RS turbo.

All depends on money/insurance though.

I'm shaking my head. Lose the top spoiler  :D

On a more important note make sure you paint or seam sealer over the back of that filler if any of it pokes through to the other side of the panel. It's porous so if you leave it unprotcted it will rot back out in just a few months.

LOL, glad you guys like the spoiler :D

Jonny, the hole I'm filling is in the rear arch. Big hole that needs filling. What would you suggest I do to protect the filler.

I think I can pull the arch trim down and get behind it, but if I can't, should I spray loads of Waxoyl in there first?

Hmmm. I'm sorry to say I'm not keen on the changes. The hole in the bumper looks awful. Especially as you havent got a FMIC behind it. I'd get a number plate over it ASAP, and get those bump strips back on too. Just looks a mess without them. I'd also loose the top spoiler. It just looks like you're trying too hard. :(

This is what I did with my front end. I thought the intake would look good, but I regretted it almost as soon as I made the first cut in the bonnet. At least it worked as a cold air intake.

Here are some other pics of the car.

Bug One, yeah I'm not too keen on the hole in the bumper. Should look better when the mesh has been painted black though.

What rub strips are you talking about, the ones in the bumper? They haven't actually arrived yet. Should be here on Monday, and don't worry, they're going straight on :)

Cheers for the input btw. Always nice to hear different views :)

Really liking that. Looks good :)

Personally i'd put your plate over the FMIC hole then move it to the side when you an FMIC to go behind it.

The two spoilers, I actually quite like the look it gives, and if you do then keep them on! :)
